BEST NZB CLIENT FOR MUSIC FOR FREE
In terms of being free, torrents have much better retentions, whereas so far I haven't found a free NZB indexer than has more than 100 days retention for free users.

I must say though that I can't remember the last time I got a virus that wasn't a simple keygen or patch when using torrents. NZB's are much safer than using torrents in terms of viruses and the authorities knocking on your door. So at the end of the day you more or less download the same amount of data. The major thing though is that you don't upload to other people when using NZB's and the overhead IMO is lower than torrents. You tend to have to download more with NZB's than torrents, for example I will see a 1 hour episode of The Walking Dead and it will be 394MB instead of the common 349MB with torrents. The speeds will never be as good as HTTP though, unfortunately the speeds on HTTP haven't been the same since the whole incident with megaupload.

This could be because I am currently borrowing 5 connections from a friend that has a paid account, or it could simply be the server he subscribes to or the site that I am using, I'm not sure I'm just saying from what I have. NZB's are more or less the same speed as torrents, however I personally can see that the speed is defiantly not constant like torrents are, my bandwidth monitor jumps up and down like a yo yo when I am downloading via NZB's.

I have been slowly getting in to NZB's, this is what I can say so far: Hopefully this will clear some things up for you:

A friend of mine said I should use Alt.binz. It's more or less the same procedure as torrents, however you need to use a free/paid server that grabs the content then you need to use a free/paid website that indexes the content.

Now if you throw in Sickbeard for Tv Shows.well then you got one hell of a well oiled machine going (in my case: Sickbeard search NZBMatrix and place the NZB in a folder where NewsLeecher picks it up automatically and then in turn downloads+extract it = completely automated)Įither way, so i don't quite see where all the "expensive" stuff is coming from, i get easily 80% of my downloads straight off the local free news servers (mweb currently) and the rest was once-off payments for NzbMatrix,NewsLeecher and Astraweb (about $40 total like a year ago). Free Search engines like BinSearch, they are "ok" but very frustrating, just get a proper one.Ĥ.

I use NZBMatrix, you pay a once-off fee of $10 to get full access, trust me it is worth it, primarily because people comment+review the stuff on it (as opposed to downloading blind and finding "cam" quality content). Do not even try to browse Usenet manually, this is where people start to think Usenet is useless because they don't got a proper search tool. The most important i suppose, get a NZB Search Engine / Indexer. I get like my full 3MB/s most of the time when download from a news server, so speed is pretty cool.ģ. $10 for 180GB ) which never expires (as opposed to paying monthly at Giganews etc).Īlso remember 1000 days retention on these international servers are like YEARS we're talking about here, that implies you'll get pretty much anything (old stuff too). I use Astraweb as backup for longer retention/rarer stuff, the main reason i use Astraweb is because you can buy once-off "per gig" download bandwidth (i.e. A good news server, now Mweb / IS is generally pretty solid for most -new- stuff (if you are at those ISPs then it is obviously free and very fast). A good "grabber" app (download+extract etc), i use NewsLeecher (not free, there are good free ones like sanzb, but i prefer the app over the browser interface thing sanzb have)Ģ. I've been using Usenet (NZB as you people seem to call it) for awhile now, if you got it all set up then it is certainly much faster and easier than torrents.ġ.
